POSITION: A2 CLIMATE CHANGE AND NATURAL RESOURCE ADVISER
SALARY: UGX 180,946,984 – 258,832,564 PER ANNUM

Summary of the role
We are looking for an experienced individual to lead our work on climate change, natural resource management and environment. The role will involve providing technical and management support to a range of programmes, and engagement and policy influencing with key players in the sector. The role will promote UK’s position and interest in ensuring a sustainable and prosperous Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
We are looking for a motivated individual to;
Take forward the UK Government’s policy engagement on Climate and Natural Resource in Uganda, in relation to the UK overseas development assistance and contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Provide technical, advisory and management support on climate, resilience, natural resource management and green growth within development programmes in renewable energy, commercial agriculture, urban planning, infrastructure, livelihoods and humanitarian sectors.
Ensure that DFID Uganda programmes give appropriate consideration to climate and environment risks and opportunities in their design and implementation.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
A bachelor’s degree in climate change, environment or natural resource management or a related field.
Minimum 5 years’ experience working in climate change, environmental or natural resource management roles.
Demonstrated understanding of climate change economy and natural resource management policy, including resilience, adaptation, mitigation, low carbon development and environmental stewardship.
Desirable:
A masters’ degree (or equivalent experience) in climate change, environment or natural resource management or a related field.
Understanding of the working of Government in relevant sectors and/or of development partners projects, policies and strategies.
Relevant experience in the private sector and research or academic experience.
